PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To transmit data using an LED which is turned on or turned off corresponding to on/off of a power source and which functions as a backlight. PSOLUTION: When a service code transmitted from a remote controller 200 is received via a light-receiving unit 8, a microcomputer 5 reads the data of adjustment value, or the like, from an information storage unit 6 in accordance with the code and supplies a control signal for adjusting the luminance of the LED in accordance with the data of the adjustment value, or the like, to a light-emitting unit 7, including the LED that indicates on/off of the power source. The light-emitting unit 7 adjusts the luminance of the LED, on the basis of the control signal supplied from the microcomputer 5 and transmits data by means of light. Alternatively, when the control signal is supplied to an LED 31 provided on the back of an LCD 3, the luminance of the LED 31 is adjusted, in accordance with the control signal supplied from the microcomputer 5, and the data are transmitted by light.
