PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a straightening machine capable of straightening a steel plate of high temperature being an operational condition for a long period of time.;SOLUTION: The straightening machine comprises a work roll for the straightening machine, and a back-up roll receiving the load of the work roll for the straightening machine. The shape of a steel plate of high temperature to be rolled by a rolling mill is straightened by the work roll for the straightening machine. The roll is not cooled by a cooling liquid during the straightening. The hardness of the work roll for the straightening machine is selected between an upper limit to be calculated by the temperature rise Ta of the work roll for the straightening machine caused by the heat transfer from the steel plate, and the heat generation ΔTα caused by the slip between the work roll for the straightening machine and the backup roll, and the lower limit to be calculated by the hardness Hb of the backup roll, the hardness difference ΔHα between the work roll for the straightening machine and the backup roll, and variance ΔHβ of the hardness by the manufacturing method of the work roll for the straightening machine and the backup roll.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
