PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sustained-release antimicrobial agent for controlling the elution of benzalkonium chloride so as to stably maintain sustained-release properties over the long period of time.;SOLUTION: The sustained-release antimicrobial agent is obtained by uniformly mixing the melts of benzalkonium and a silicone resin, cooling and then solidifying, and is characterized in that the percentage of the silicone resin in the agent is 70-85%. The sustained-release antimicrobial agent exerts an excellent effect such that benzalkonium is eluted at a concentration effective for prevention of slime occurrence over the long period of time.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
