PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance estimated precision of three-dimensional distribution of rainfall intensity and quantity. PSOLUTION: By using formulae for estimating both the rainfall intensity and quantity, on the basis of the phase difference KSBDP/SBbetween specific polarization, the reflectivity factor difference ZSBDR/SB, and the reflectivity factor ZSBH/SBobtained by multiparametric radars, the air temperature profile t (r, ) in the direction of radar range is calculated from the near-surface air temperature tSBO/SB, the elevation angle , and temperature lapse rate of the standard atmosphere (=0.065C/m). The three-dimensional distribution of the rainfall intensity and quantity is estimated by using the coefficients and the exponential indices aSBi/SB(i=1, 2), aSBi'/SB(i=1, 2), bSBi/SB(i=1, 2), bSBi'/SB(i=1, 2), cSBi/SB(i=1, 2, 3), cSBi'/SB(i=1, 2, 3), dSBi/SB(i=1, 2, 3), and dSBi'/SB(i=1, 2, 3) depending on temperature and elevation angle.
