Use of H3 Histaminergic Agonists for the Treatment of Addiction to Drugs of Abuse

The present invention relates to H₃ histaminergic agonists, compositions thereof, and methods for treating or preventing addiction to drugs of abuse in a subject. The methods comprise administering to a subject in need thereof an effective amount of one or more H₃ histaminergic agonists to prevent addiction, diminish the voluntary seeking of drugs of abuse, facilitate the cessation of the addictive behavior, and to prevent relapse.
