PROCESS FOR PREPARING A SUITABLE COMPOSITION FOR CONTROLLED RELEASE, AND, ARTICLE FOR BIOMEDICAL APPLICATION. A solid or semi-solid implant obtained by providing a liquid composition comprising an aqueous solution of dextran with a molecular weight of 1.0 to 100 kDa and introducing a liquid composition into a mammalian body, by which the implant is formed in situ in the mammal's body. A process for preparing a composition useful for biomedical application, comprising the steps of providing a liquid composition comprising an aqueous solution of dextran having a molecular weight of 1 to 100 kDa; and causing a liquid composition to solidify; whereby water is gradually eliminated from a liquid composition during solidification. A biomedical article prepared from the composition.
