TRANSFORMED PROJECT WITH SCALED AND NON-SCALED INTERFACES. Techniques are described to efficiently perform complete and staggered transformations in the data received through complete and staggered interfaces, respectively. A complete transform is a transform that implements the full mathematical description of the transform. A complete transform operates on, or provides complete transform coefficients. A stepped transform is a transform that operates on, or provides stepped transform coefficients, which are stepped versions of the complete transform coefficients. The scaled transform can have lower computational complexity while the complete transform can be simpler to use by applications. The scaled complete transforms can be for a 2D IDCT, which can be implemented in a separable manner with 1D IDCTs. The complete and scaled transforms can also be for a 2D DCT, which can be implemented in a separable way with 1D DCTs. 1D IDCTs and 1D DCTs can be implemented in a computationally efficient manner.
