The electromagnetic response of formations is measured in a plurality of deviations from a position of the transmission.For each displacement, a time of arrival from the transmission is determined from a peak of a response to the impulse, so that the answer is the horizontal and vertical subsuperficie resistivities.For each displacement, a response to the step of the formations is determined at a time from the transmission, selected so that the response to the step is related substantially only to the average resistivity. The time of arrival of the peak of the response to pulse and the value of time delayed response to step are used to determine the anisotropy of resistivity.
