Induction furnace for melting metals, lining for induction furnace and method for producing such lining

The present invention relates to an induction furnace for smelting metals that do not inductively couple in a solid state. An induction furnace has a lining containing a mixture of graphite and silicon carbide, and has a conductivity higher than the conductivity of the metal to be melted when the metal is in the solid state, but lower than the conductivity of the metal to be melted when the metal is in the molten state. The invention further relates to a lining for an induction furnace and to a method for producing such a lining.
