A recyclable method for the preparation of K2PtCI4, that is practically waste-less with respect to platinum has been invented. According to the invention, the solutions which remain after the preparation of K2PtCl4 by a literature method, consisting in reduction of K2PtCl6 with K2C2O4, are subjected to oxidation back into K2PtCl6. The oxidation is performed with a mixture of HC1 (concentration 37 percent) and H202 (concentration 30 percent). The regenerated K2PtCl6 is again subjected to reduction into K2PtCl4 by the above mentioned method. Thus, K2PtCl4 is obtained practically without losses.
