This invention relates to a process of manufacture of Flooring Tiles from Bamboo Strips comprising, cross cutting 2-4 years old bamboo culms to average length of 1320 mm by using vertically operated cross cutting machine, splitting the cross cut bamboo culms by using parallel splitting method which produces uniform rectangular shape of bamboo strips followed by the internal knot removal and glassy epidermal layer removal, subjecting rough shaving of bamboo slabs to boiling water process containing desired quantity of boric acid and borax for a period of 2-4 hours and then air dried for 2-4 days and finally dried to around 6-8% moisture content in an electrically heated drying chamber, passing the dried bamboo strips through a four side planner to attain the required dimension of a strip, finally passing strips through cross cutting machine to obtain strips of desired length of 330/660mm for file preparation, Melamine Urea Formaldehyde resin based glue is applied on both the edges and surfaces of processed strips for better bonding, wherein bamboo strips of 330-660 mm length, 10-20 mm width and 3-6 mm thickness were glued, keeping glued strips for open assembly to bring down the moisture content of 12-14 %, strip assembly comprises of 3-5 layers depending on the thickness of strips and required thickness of tiles, to achieve better load bearing capacity, loading assembled strips with release film on either side into an electrically heated hot press and pressed at curing temperature in the range of 100-110°C for 15-25 minutes depending on thickness of assembly at the specific pressure range of 10-14 Kg/cm2, Downloading the board/tile from the hot press, staking parallel to the floor for 0-24 hours for stabilization, finally the bamboo flooring is dimensioned to the required size by trimming machine.
