A fan-cooled motor comprising a rotor and stator assembly enclosed in a motor housing (2) having fins (3) on the outer surface thereof, a fan (4) mounted on one end of the motor shaft (5) protruding from the motor housing (2) and an enclosure (6) disposed over the fan (4) and mounted to the motor housing (2) wherein the enclosure (6) comprises air openings (9) at the sides (10) thereof so as to facilitate atmospheric air to enter the enclosure (6) radially and then travel through the fan (4) over the fins (3).
