A METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR YARN CLEARING

In the method for clearing out defects from a yarn moved along its longitudinal direction, measured values of a property of the yarn are detected along its longitudinal direction. Values of a yarn parameter (M) are determined from the measured values. An event field (6) is provided which is opened up by the yarn parameter (M) and an extension (L) of yarn parameter values in the longitudinal direction and which is divided into more than two areas (71 to 75), of which at least one area (71, 73 to 75) predetermines permissible events and at least one other area (72) predetermines impermissible events. The values of the yarn parameter (M) are classified with its extension (L) in the longitudinal direction in the event field (6). The invention is especially suitable for clearing out fancy yarn, with further permissible areas (73 to 75) preventing a clearing out of the desired slubs. (Fig. 2)
