The invention relates to a high gradient magnetic separator with superconducting magnet system for removal of weakly magnetic impurities in fine particle main process slurry. The system is tailored for wet separation process and has a capacity to process slurry with a maximum solid of 25%. The system comprises superconducting magnet (1) housed in a horizontal warm bore cryostat (2) and operates in a pool liquid helium of the said cryostat,cryocoolers comprising shield cooler (3) and helium recondenser (4) are interfaced to the said cryostat to cool the radiation shields and to condense the evaporated liquid helium, the said cryostat is enclosed by a magnetic shield (5), a dual canister assembly (6) connected to the hydraulic actuator (7) the said actuator mounted on a linear guide (9) so that at least one canister (6) is disposed within the warm bore of the said cryostat at any time, a pair of flexible inlet ( 10) and outlet (11) hose connected to each of said canister and each of said canister is provided with a filter matrix (13), the said canister assembly alongwith all other components are assembled on a base frame (8) provided with vibration free mountings ( 12) and the entire system is controlled by a process controller ( 14) with manual or fully automatic mode.
