Collaborative processing in an earth model of oil field services application

A method and associated computer program are disclosed to utilize node to node collaboration to work on an earth model or oilfield services application. The method identifies operations within a workflow that can be shared. Identified operations are then shared with secondary nodes over a network. The results are returned by the secondary nodes and integrated into the operation of the workflow. In deciding which secondary nodes to use decisions can be taken on the basis of the attractiveness of the node according to whether there is a processing object present on the node. Communication capacities of the secondary node may also be used to determine sharing. The operations to be shard to the secondary nodes may be split up into smaller work blocks or jobs and shared amongst more than one secondary node.
