Method for manufacturing and lens (810) for inhibiting myopia progression are disclosed. The device manipulates the curvature of a visual image and controls off axis aberrations by the repositioning of peripheral off-axis focal points relative to the retina to produce a stimulus for influencing the progression of myopic refractive error while controlling both the position of the central focal point (850) to provide clear zones of vision and simultaneously providing zones of controlled peripheral defocus to improve peripheral vision for selected directions.
