The invention relates to an equipment meant for performing the mechanized planting of forest trees seedlings in areas where afforestation or re-afforestation take place on large surfaces. According to the invention, the equipment for planting forest tree seedlings is provided with a framework (1) on which there is mounted a planting section (3) consisting of a deformable parallelogram (4) on which there are mounted settling and driving wheels (5) and a rotor (6) on which some seedling planting mechanisms (d) are arranged to take over the seedling and position it into the soil, each of said mechanisms comprising an arm (7) on which there is mounted a pair of pallets (8) for gripping the seedling, which are lined, on the active gripping surface, with some soft resilient elements (9), the planting equipment working in combination with a forest tractor (a) provided with a hydraulic lifter (b). The pair of seedling gripping pallets (8) is maintained in the open position by a spring (10), while the closing of said gripping pallets (8) is achieved by a profiled piece (16) mounted on a rod (14) driven by a slide (11) controlled by a roller (12) moving on a cam (13), where, upon its getting out of the cam (13) the roller (12) achieves the opening of the gripping pallets (8) by means of a spring (15), the seedling being thereby released into the soil.
