METHOD FOR QUANTITATIVELY EVALUATING THE EYEGROUND LESIONS ON THE BLACK-AND-WHITE PHOTOS

The invention relates to a method for quantitatively evaluating eyeground lesions on black-and-white photos recorded digitally in various types of investigations used in ophthalmology. According to the invention, the method consists in measuring the area of the lesions of interest expressed in black or white pixels, colour conventionally established depending on the type of lesion, on black-and-white photos carried out in pre-established lighting, image focusing, pupil dilating, environment obscurity and processed subsequently for regulating the grey tones at a saturation level of up to 50% pure white and over 50% pure black, the measurements being performed within some established regions depending on the aspect of the lesions of interest in the shape of a circle circumscribed to the lesion, tangent or concentric to another circle circumscribed to the optical nerve head, the final results being corrected by the application of a factor for the correction of the variation of the incidence angle under which the photos are recorded in successive examinations.
