METHOD FOR DEALING WITH MISSING OR UNTIMELY SYNCHRONIZATION SIGNALS IN DIGITAL COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEMS

A method for handling missing or untimely synchronization signals in digitalcommunications systems. Upon detecting the absence of a synchronization signal(500), an estimation of the absent synchronization signal is made based on aplurality of previously received synchronization signals (540), and theestimated synchronization signal is used in place of the absentsynchronization signal (550). The estimated synchronization signal iscorrected upon the receipt of a subsequent synchronization signal.
