The present invention relates to a method, an apparatusand a computer program for inspecting laminated ironcores (1) of electrical machines for interlaminationshorts, in which the laminated iron core (1) ismagnetized by means of an auxiliary winding, and theiron surface is scanned by means of at least onemeasurement coil arrangement (2) with a downstreammeasurement device. In this case, unique andquantifiable localization of interlamination shorts isachieved by using both the phase (8) and the amplitude(7) of the electrical signal which is induced in the atleast one measurement coil arrangement (2), in combinedform.
