A gumbo separator for separating gumbo from a gumboladen drilling fluid, said gumbo separator comprising ascreen conveyor (20) arranged in a cartridge (18)removably arranged in a housing (12), said screen conveyorcomprising a plurality of spaced-apart rods (22) and aplurality of wires (29), at least one wire of theplurality of wires wrapped around at least one rod (22) ofthe plurality of rods (22), such that said wires (29) aremovable about said rods (22), portions of said rods (22)and portions of said wires (29) defining openings throughwhich the fluid is passable and through which at least asubstantial portion of said gumbo is not passable.
