The present invention is directed to a compound for treatment or preventionof brain injury caused by diseases such as cerebrovasculardisorder, brain degenerative disease and demyelinating diseaseand a method for screening the same. Braininjury in which prostaglandin D2 participatesis treated or prevented by inhibition of hematopoieticprostaglandin D synthase induced in microglia cell ormacrophage of a brain injury area by diseases such ascerebrovascular disorder, brain degenerative disease ordemyelinating disease or by the inhibition of activation ofprostaglandin D receptor expressed in astroglia cell around theinjured area. The invention also provides a method of testing thosepharmaceutical substances using a transgenic mouse in whichhuman hematopoietic prostaglandin D synthase is expressed inlarge amounts.
