Digital assistant appliance for assisting an operator in themanual preparation of a liquid pharmaceutical compositioncomprising: a memory device containing, for each activeprinciple of the liquid pharmaceutical composition: one ormore first sample images of vials containing the activeprinciple, and one or more second sample images of syringesthat can be used for transferring the active principle fromthe vials to the medical instrument; an artificial viewingsystem designed to acquire: a vial image of a vial chosen bythe operator and/or a syringe image of a syringe chosen by theoperator; and an electronic processing system configured insuch a way as to compare the vial image with each of the firstsample images for determining whether the vial chosen by theoperator is incorrect, and/or compare the syringe image witheach of the second sample images for determining whether thesyringe chosen by the operator is incorrect, and warn theoperator of an error condition in the preparation step whenthe vial or the syringe chosen by the operator is incorrect.
