Centralized video on demand (VoD) systems offer limited content and limitedarchival ability. Peer-to-peer networks allow users to share a wide selectionof content directly among peers, but connections between peers may have limiteduplink bandwidth and may be unreliable. The present invention according to variousembodiments contemplates systems and methods for high quality and resilienttransmission of streaming data from one or more sources within a heterogeneouspeer-to-peer network to address these and other problems
