The present invention relates to a method for thermal disinfection of a substrate according to which a suspension of delayed reactivity quicklime (DRQL) in water is applied to said substrate. According to the invention, the suspension contains a concentration of delayed reactivity quicklime (DRQL) that is substantially between 20% w/w and 70% w/w of the DRQL + water mixture, and said mixture is converted to a solid after hydration of the delayed reactivity quicklime.
