A cleaning device (2) according to the invention for an element (28) disposed therebelow to be cleaned, in particular a solar collector or a solar module, comprises a base element (4) containing metal and forming a cathode during operation and at least two metal elements (6, 8, 10, 12) disposed above the base element at a distance from each other, said metal elements being substantially flat in length. During operation, an electrical potential is formed between the lowest metal element (6) and the base element (4) so that the lowest metal element (6) forms an anode. The base element (4) and the metal elements (6, 8, 10, 12) are disposed at an angle relative to the horizontal plane. A liquid entrance area is formed by the upper edges of the metal elements (6, 8, 10, 12), said edges being offset relative to one another, so that a sufficient amount of liquid comes between the metal elements (6, 8, 10, 12), and a liquid discharge area is provided that discharges the liquid ionized by the metal elements (6, 8, 10, 12) in the direction of the element (28) to be cleaned.
