PHARMACEUTICAL COMPOSITION USED IN PROPHYLAXIS OR TREATMENT OF HYPERPROLIFERATIVE SKIN CONDITIONS AND MALIGNANT MELANOMAS COMPRISING PACHASTRISSAMINE AS ACTIVE INGREDIENT

The present invention relates to use of phytosphingosine, and more specifically: to a composition used in prophylaxis and treatment of hyperproliferative skin conditions comprising pachastrissamine, a derivative of a phytosphingosine, as a pharmaceutically acceptable active ingredient; to an application for pachastrissamine or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof for producing prophylactic and therapeutic agents; and to a therapeutic method for hyperproliferative skin conditions in which pachastrissamine or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof is administered in an effective dose into the body of an individual in need thereof. In particular, the invention relates to the prophylaxis and treatment of psoriasis caused by skin keratinocyte over-expression or of malignant melanoma, regarded as the most malignant form of skin cancer. The pachastrissamine of the present invention is effective in the prophylaxis or treatment of medical conditions due to cytostasis brought about by cell cycle suppression and apoptosis induction in excessively proliferating cells brought about by suppression of breakdown and increased expression of the Fox03a protein. Hence, the composition, application and method of the present invention can be used for the prophylaxis or treatment of various hyperproliferative skin conditions such as skin cancer or psoriasis.
