A downlink sub-frame allocation method for a Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access (WiMAX) evolution system is provided. The method includes: the initial offset of an IEEE 802.16m frame is set as a deployment area coverage parameter, and all IEEE 802.16m base stations in the same deployment area coverage of a system set the initial position of IEEE 802.16m unit frames according to the initial offset of said IEEE 802.16m frame; said IEEE 802.16m base stations set initial sub-frames of the IEEE 802.16m frames as IEEE 802.16m downlink sub-frames; a super-frame control header carrying synchronizing symbols is sent in the initial position of the first unit frame of the super-frame, or the synchronizing symbols are sent in the initial position of the first unit frame of the super-frame, and the super-frame control header is sent in the initial sub-frame of the first unit frame of the super-frame; said synchronizing symbols and said super-frame control header are time division multiplexed in the first unit frame of the super-frame.
