Disclosed are: a reformed pitch which contains a polar molecule component of a coal-derived pitch in a reduced amount and can be produced with high efficiency; a raw coke suitable for the production of a needle coke; and the needle coke. The following first and second steps are carried out: a first step of removing a light fraction from a coal-derived low-temperature tar by distillation to produce a coal-derived pitch; and a second step of adding a reforming solution to the coal-derived pitch obtained in the first step, agitating the resulting mixture while heating the mixture at a temperature equal to or lower than the boiling point of the reforming solution, and separating the resulting mixture into a solid fraction and a liquid fraction to obtain a solid content as a reformed pitch, wherein the reforming solution is mainly composed of a polyhydric alcohol that can selectively dissolve a polar molecule component contained in the coal-derived pitch obtained in step 1 and having a hetero atom in the molecule. A raw coke can be produced from the reformed pitch obtained in step 2.
