The invention relates to a detent fitting for locking two vehicle parts, comprising a first fitting part, a second fitting part which can rotate in relation to the first fitting part about a rotational axis, at least one locking mechanism movably arranged on the first fitting part and can engage with a toothing of the second fitting part for locking the first fitting part to the second fitting part and which can release the toothing of the second fitting part to allow unlocking, also comprising a control disk which interacts with the at least one locking mechanism and which can rotate with the first and the second fitting part, said control disk being used to release the lock, and at least one free-pivoting section which is arranged on the second fitting part, and designed and provided to interact with the locking mechanism when rotating the second fitting part relative to the first fitting part in a predetermined angle range and prevents the locking mechanism from engaging with the toothing of the second fitting part. According to the invention, the control disk (4) and the at least one free-pivoting section (61, 63, 65) are intersected by at least one identical cross-sectional plane (E) perpendicular to the rotational axis (A). A detent fitting for locking two vehicle parts which has a latch fitting having a thin design is provided.
