A method for implementing the recombination for Ethernet packets in a GPON system is disclosed by the present invention. The method includes a process to recombine GPON Encapsulation Method (GEM) frames, which have two port identifiers and are sent alternately. Said process includes storing the middle variables of the GEM frames to be recombined in a recombination table, the GEM frames to be recombined have two port identifiers and are sent alternately. A device for implementing the recombination for Ethernet packets in a GPON system is disclosed by the present invention accordingly. By using a recombination table to store the middle variables of the GEM frames that have two different port identifiers in the present invention, the GEM frames having 64K port identifiers are recombined with the least resource, and the data with not more than two different port identifiers are permitted to be sent alternately. Further more, moreover, by setting the middle value for the Cyclic Redundancy Check (CRC) in present invention, the middle process check is performed for the recombination of the payload data, and the reliability of the packet recombination is improved.
