The present invention relates to the interplanetary and intergalactic flights. According to the invention, an inertial force directed in a given direction is acting on a spacecraft. This inertia communicates accelerated motion to the spacecraft. When in vacuum, the speed of the spacecraft is increased to a predetermined value if the acceleration is acceptable for the crew, notably, at the level of acceleration of gravity at the Earth's surface. During re-entry the speed of the spacecraft is regulated so the heating of the surface does not exceed a predetermined value.
