SYSTEM AND A METHOD FOR EMPLOYING SWARMS OF ELECTRONIC DEVICES TO DETECT AND LOCATE FALL VICTIMS IN AN INDOOR ENVIRONMENT

A method and system for locating a victim of a fall in an indoor environment is provided. A plurality of electronic devices is distributed in the environment, each electronic device comprising a system-on-a-chip and a wireless transmitter. The devices are self-organized into a network that is in contact with a computer-controlled alarm system. Upon detection of a signal by an environmental sensor in the environment, the electronic devices collectively process it to determine whether or not a fall has occurred, and if it has, create an alarm signal including information on the location of the fall. The alarm is passed through the network to the alarm system and the victim of the fall is located based on the information on the location of the fall.
