A first method for obtaining current power allocation for flows on an access terminal comprising: - receiving a grant message having at least one current power allocation grant from a scheduler, and - setting current power allocation for a corresponding flow equal to said at least one current power allocation grant in said grant message. A second method for obtaining current power allocation for flows on an access terminal comprising: - determining whether a current power allocation grant for a flow has been received from an access node, and - autonomously determining the current power allocation for the flow if the current power allocation grant for a flow has not been received from an access node.
