The invention relates to an alternating shower comprising a shower interval switch for controlling an alternating hot and cold shower. In a first form of embodiment, an automatic interval operation of the shower with alternating warm water and cold water phases is achieved by controlling a hot water line (2) of the shower leading towards the mixer (3). In a second form of embodiment, a first blocking element (40) arranged in the line leading from the mixer to the shower head (5), and a second blocking element (41, 43) arranged in a bypass line (42) bypassing the mixer are simultaneously controlled in such a way that, alternately, warm water is supplied via the mixer and cold water is supplied via the bypass line. In this way, the shower can be converted into an alternating shower using simple means.
