The invention relates to a method for examining the presence of nickel sulphide inclusions in an object which is made of glass. The aim of the invention is to carry out said method in an energy-saving and rapid manner and to examine the presence of nickel sulphide inclusions in an object which is made of glass, such as tempered safety glass, during the tempering and/or hardening thereof. The object is brought to a temperature of at least 500 °C and at said temperature, electromagnetic radiation emitted from the object is registered and evaluated. Then, the object is cooled in a reinforced manner after the tempering and/or hardening thereof. The invention also relates to a device for examining the presence of nickel sulphide inclusions in an object which is made of glass, for example, tempered safety glass.
