SYSTEM FOR TAKING WIDE-FIELD BEAM-EYE-VIEW (BEV) X-RAY-IMAGES SIMULTANEOUSLY TO THE PROTON THERAPY DELIVERY

The present invention discloses a proton gantry layout, which offers the possibility to take wide-field (pictures not masked by collimators) diagnostic X-ray pictures along the nominal beam axis simultaneously to the delivery of the scanned proton beam used for proton therapy. The on-line analysis of such images can be used for detecting possible motions of the target volume in the patient body and for correcting the errors due to this movement by gating the irradiation or by using an active steering of the beam (tracking).
