The instrument has an instrument body forming a closable cavity (6), and a cover (7) e.g. hinged cover, for closing the cavity. A transmitter (11) i.e. wireless transmitter, is removably insertable in the cavity, where the transmitter is operative to communicate with a computer (21). An activating device e.g. push button (12), is provided for activating the transmitter. A sealing member maintains sterile environment on the exterior of the cavity. The activating device is arranged on the transmitter, and is removably insertable with the transmitter.
