Provided is a process for the production of an aqueous polytetrafluoroethyelne (PTFE) dispersion for coagulation processing, by which an aqueous PTFE dispersion that ensures excellent coagulation of PTFE microparticles can be efficiently produced. Also provided is an aqueous PTFE dispersion for coagulation processing.The process comprises: adding a synthetic adsorbent having a specific surface area of 100 to 2000m2/g to an aqueous PTFE dispersion that contains 45 to 70% by mass of PTFE microparticles having a mean particle diameter of 0.10 to 0.50μm and that contains a nonionic surfactant in an amount of 2.2 to 6% by mass relative to the mass of PTFE, with the amount of the synthetic adsorbent added being 0.5 to 15% by mass relative to the mass of the PTFE microparticles; stirring or rocking the obtained mixture; and subjecting the resulting mixture to solid-liquid separation to obtain an aqueous PTFE dispersion for coagulation processing that contains 45 to 70% by mass of PTFE microparticles having a mean particle diameter of 0.10 to 0.50μm and that contains a nonionic surfactant in an amount of 1.4 to 2.1% by mass relative to the mass of PTFE.
