Cable Inscription Device and Method for Inscribing Cables

An apparatus (1) and method for inscribing a cable (2) moving along its axis (y) are described. The apparatus (1) comprises a jet/beam generator (3) for generating at least one jet/beam (A) which produces the inscription. Furthermore, the apparatus (1) comprises a movement unit which is prepared for moving the at least one jet/beam (A) during the inscription process in the direction (a) transverse to the cable axis (y). According to the invention, the movement unit is additionally prepared for adjusting said direction of movement (a) continuously in such a way that the speed component (V_Sy) of the jet /beam movement in the region of the cable (2) in the direction of the cable axis (y) corresponds to the speed (V_L) of the cable (2).
