The invention relates to a rotatable multi-operation tool intended for hole making and other chip removing machining, comprising replaceable cutting inserts (2, 3, 4) of different types, a basic body (1) having a front end (6) from which there is extending rearward an envelope surface (7) in which chip spaces, delimited by opposite side surfaces (12a, 12b), are countersunk, which open in the envelope surface (7) and also in the front end (6). A first cutting insert (2) is mounted in one side surface (12a) of the chip space (11 ), near the front end (6), to partly protrude axially forward from the same. A second cutting insert (4), of another type, is mounted in a second insert seat formed in the same side surface (12a) but axially behind the first cutting insert seat. The second insert seat is included in a cavity (27) in the envelope surface. By means of the tool, holes can be drilled and threaded or grooved without tool exchange.
