The present invention provides medicaments, their methods of preparation, as well as methods of diagnosis and imaging of mammalian tumors with [¹³¹I]-MIBG and/or [¹²³I]-MIBG. A method for treating a mammalian tumor which comprises administering to a mammal having a tumor, a composition comprising a histone deacetylase inhibitor, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt, hydrate, or solvate thereof, in an effective amount for at least about forty-eight hours, and followed by administering to the mammal a composition comprising an effective amount of [¹³¹I]-MIBG or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt, hydrate, or solvate thereof is also disclosed.
