The bearing (1) has a rotating-field machine stator (3) having stator slots (4) distributed in a circumferential direction and stator teeth (5) with radial ends arranged between adjacent stator slots; a three-phase stator winding wound (6) around the stator slots for producing a rotating magnetic field; and axially extending permanent magnets (7) in form of a strip or plate and arranged at the radial end of each stator tooth. The permanent magnets are arranged adjacently in the circumferential direction having alternating opposing radial magnetization directions. An independent claim is also included for a magnetic bearing system.
