METHOD AND BASE STATION CONTROLLER FOR SOFT HANDOVER CELL ASSIGNMENT IN GROUP COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

A method and Base Station Controller (BSC) for soft handover cell assignment in a group communication system are disclosed. The method includes steps as follows: the BSC receives pilot environment measurement report domains from one or more terminal User Equipments (UEs) in a scheduling period; the BSC selects a pre-determined number of cells from the cells indicated by all the pilot environment measurement report domains received in the scheduling period; the BSC transmits broadcast channel assignment messages carrying information about the pre-determined number of cells to one or more UEs in the scheduling period. With the invention, a plurality of UEs in the group communication system can be assigned cells for soft handover at the same time.
