A method and system for a radio terminal to actively establish a video conference are provided in the invention, wherein: a radio terminal actively sends a request for establishing a video conference to a video conference server, and sends to the conference server the information of the conference members invited to participate in the conference; and the video conference server, after receiving the request and the information of the conference members, establishes video conference connections with the invitees and the originators. The method of the invention enables the radio terminal to initiate a video conference actively and invite other radio terminals or cable video conference terminals to participate in the conference.
