The invention relates to a gas concentration sensor, consisting of: a sound transmitter, a sound receiver, a control device by means of which a phase shift between the sound signal transmitted by the sound transmitter and a sound signal received by the sound receiver can be controlled to a predefinable phase shift, wherein a change in a composition of a gas mixture can be detected by means of an analysis unit on the basis of a change in frequency of the sound signal relative to a frequency of a reference sound signal. The invention further relates to a motor vehicle having the gas concentration sensor according to the invention, and to a method for measuring gas concentration using the gas concentration sensor according to the invention.
