The present invention discloses a method for determining shift modes of channel state information reference signal (CSI-RS). The method includes that: the number N of the shift modes of the CSI-RS in a single physical resource block (PRB) is determined according to the number of transmission resource elements and the number of the resource elements which can be used for the CSI-RS; the shift modes of the CSI-RS in a super PRB is determined according to the number N of the shift modes of the CSI-RS in a single PRB and the number M of the PRBs which compose the super PRB; the number of usable modes of the CSI-RS in the super PRB is N; N and M are natural numbers. The present invention also discloses an apparatus for determining the shift modes of the CSI-RS.
