A binarization processing method for a fingerprint image is disclosed, which comprises: calculating to acquire a direction image of the fingerprint image(SlOO); establishing a convolution mask comprising a plurality of matrixes(S200); segmenting the fingerprint image into a plurality of sub-blocks(S300); selecting matrixes from the convolution mask to convolute the multiple sub-blocks one by one according to the direction image, so that the grey scale of the fingerprint image can be polarized(S400); and carrying out binarization processing on the polarized fingerprint image using a threshold(S500). Accordingly, the acquired binary image has the advantages of clear ridges and smooth boundaries and being identical with the original image.
