METHOD FOR SERVICE LEVEL MANAGEMENT IN METRO ETHERNET AND SYSTEM THEREOF

The present invention discloses a method for service level management in the Metro Ethernet and system thereof, and the method mainly includes: a provider edge device provides all available service levels and corresponding bandwidth strategies to a Customer Edge (CE) device; the customer edge device sends to the provider edge device a status alternation request message in which an expected service level is carried, or in which both a current service level and the expected service level are carried simultaneously; the provider edge device returns a status alternation reply message in which an instruction for agreeing or refusing the alternation is carried. The present invention enables the CE device to obtain and alternate the service level in real-time in the Metro Ethernet, and the problem is overcame that the User Network Interface-Customer (UNI-C) can only obtain the bandwidth strategy corresponding to the current service level and can not actively request the User Network Interface-Network (UNI-N) to alternate the current service level in real-time, thus the UNI-N can be requested to alternate the service level at any time, and the system performance is improved.
