Disclosed are a dispersion of fine particles of a substituted benzenedithiol metal complex, which is maintained in a stable dispersion state without reaggregation for a long period of time, has long-lasting excellent light resistance, and for example, when M in formula (1) or (2) is a copper atom, can sufficiently block UV-A which was conventionally difficult to block, a composition for a light-absorbing member using the dispersion, and a light-absorbing member using the composition. More specifically disclosed are a light-absorbing dispersion containing a substituted benzenedithiol metal complex represented by formula (1) and/or formula (2), wherein fine particles of the substituted benzenedithiol metal complex are dispersed in a single or mixed dispersion medium containing one or more media selected from the group consisting of water, organic solvents, and polymerizable monomers, a composition for a light-absorbing member using the dispersion, and a light-absorbing member.
